Visa support

To visit a conference in Russia, foreign citizens usually need a "Humanitarian Visa". Visa exempt are nationals of several countries subject to the visa-free regime, listed, for example, at http://www.saint-petersburg.com/russian-visa/visa-free-travel/ and shown on the map below (look here if you are interested in detailed information). In order to get the Russian visa, the first thing you need is a Letter of Invitation (LOI). The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) can produce it for you. In order to arrange it, the LOC will need:

  1. scanned copies of the first page of your and your accompanying person(s) passports (they must be valid no less than 6 months after the visa expiration date);
  2. names of countries and cities where you and your accompanying person(s) were born and are living now;
  3. address and telephone of your institute or university and your current position.
Please send them to the LOC by e-mail: ns2017spb@gmail.com. It is very important for the LOC to receive all the indicated documents before the end of April 2017, in order to send you the special visa-purpose invitations in time.

For some countries (like Australia, Canada, Turkey, and the UK), the LOI preparation can take significant time, up to 6 weeks or more. You can track the current status of your LOI preparation in your personal account.

Note: while booking a hotel, you may be offered to get the LOI (or Visa support letter). Please pay attention, that with this letter you may apply for a "Tourist Visa" only. Before choosing this option, please check the suitability of the "Tourist Visa" for attending the conference and obtain details on required documents at a Russian consulate in your country.

Attention. All foreign citizens arriving to Russia have to fill in a migration card while passing through customs. Migration cards are usually given to foreign guests before crossing the border (in planes, trains, buses, ships, etc.). Please be careful while filling in the migration card and keep this card secure until your departure from Russia.

According to Russian legislation, all foreign citizens should be registered within 7 working days of their arrival at a hotel. In general, the hotel takes care of this registration and guests should not worry about this issue.

If you have further questions, please contact the LOC at ns2017spb@gmail.com at your earliest convenience.
