Based on the new catalogue of absorption systems, available at the site of the Department of Theoretical Astrophysics of the Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute and at the site of the Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS), a statistical analysis of the z-distribution of absorption systems in quasar spectra is performed for the range of cosmological redshifts z=0-3.7. Features of such distribution are revealed and their statistical significance is estimated.
