In the Dekabristov (f. Senatskaya) Square, between the St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Neva, the Bronze Horseman stands. This monument to Peter the Great was erected by E.-M. Falconet on the order of Catherine the Great in 1782.
The present name of the square commemorates the Decembrists' uprising (14 December 1825).
