• Topics
  Joint Astrophysical Seminars of the Department of Theoretical Astrophysics and the Laboratory of High Energy Astrophysics of the Ioffe Institute are mainly devoted to physical or astronomical problems related to astrophysics. Naturally, the topics related to our scientific constitute a significant percentage, but any talks related to other astrophysical problems are also most welcome. Some talks are devoted to physical problems which are not directly related to astrophysics but are "hot" or raise our interest for other reasons.

• Speakers and languages
  Statistically, over half of the talks are given by the members of the Department of Theoretical Astrophysics and the Laboratory of High Energy Astrophysics. However, a substantial contribution is provided by guests — sometimes from other departments of the Ioffe Institute, sometimes from other institutions all over the world. In order to contribute as a speaker, please contact the organizers.

  If the entire audience and a speaker are Russian, the talk is given in Russian. Otherwise, it is usually given in English.

• Place, time and contact information
  The joint astrophysical seminars are normally held on Tuesdays at 12 a.m. There are, however, exceptions, so please check carefully the exact date and time of a seminar you are going to attend.

  As a rule (with rare exceptions), the seminars take place in the Big Conference Hall of the Main Building of the Ioffe Institute (Politekhnicheskaya 26, a yellow building near the intersection with Kurchatov Street). Click here for more detailed geographical information.

  The seminars are open to everyone.
  Note: In order to pass into the building, an authorized permit ("propusk") is required. In order to get it, do not hesitate to request us (for instance, Yury A. Uvarov or Dmitry G. Yakovlev) by e-mail or call 292 7 180 or 292 7 326 (in St Petersburg). When calling from the Ioffe Institute, dial 180 or 326. When calling from another city, add 812 (St Petersburg code) in front of the above 7-digit number. When calling from abroad, dial first +7 (Russia code).
